Delta Zetas participate in various philanthropic activities throughout their college career. Service to others, whether in our community, on our campus, or within the Sorority, is an integral part of Delta Zeta and the Pi Delta Colony. The sisters of Pi Delta devote our attention and effort to helping where there is a need.

Our national project supported by both collegiate and alumnae chapters is assistance to the speech and hearing impaired. Our national philanthropic projects are Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. and the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, California. Gallaudet University is the only four-year liberal arts school in the world devoted wholly to the needs, instruction, and training of young people who are deaf. The House Ear Institute is one of the world's foremost research, teaching, and treatment centers in the field of hearing.

We also enthusiastically support other greek organization's philanthropies such as Sigma Chi's Derby Days, Lambda Chi's Pumpkin Smash, Phi Mu's Charity Denim, Phi Beta Phi's Pancake Fest, Tri-Delta's Triple Play and Kappa Delta's Mr. Wake Forest. Furthermore we support campus wide events such as D.E.S.K. and Campus Kitchen.

Through our work, we also educate the public on the challenges that the hearing impaired face. We work with our alumnae advisors to identify needs in our community and work diligently to help those who are less fortunate.

DZ Dodgeball

In 2009 Delta Zeta teamed up with Sigma Nu to developed a new philanthropy event for the fall: Dodgeball tournment. This year we had 24 different teams compete from all over campus to support our national philanthropy.

TURTLE TUG

Turtle Tug is our annual tug-of-war contest featuring a giant pool of over 100 gallons of green jello! The event is open to all greek organizations, clubs and campus groups. We encourage participation by anyone and everyone! Students register in groups of five and compete in a single elimination tournament. 100% of the proceeds from this event go to support our national philanthropy, the speech and hearing impaired. In 2009, Turtle Tug alone raised $2600!

Working with Wake Forest University to Support the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund

Because of our strong commitment to the community and to charitable causes, Delta Zeta looks forward to contributing its time, talent, and energy to the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund, the premiere charitable event at Wake Forest University. Delta Zeta college chapters around the country have raised money, volunteered countless hours, and given in many ways to community service projects and charitable organizations. Delta Zeta members at Wake Forest University have an opportunity to develop a philanthropic project for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund. Each year, Delta Zeta participates in Hit the Bricks in the fall and Wake 'n' Shake in the spring to support this charity.
